The name Calliandra means "beautiful stamens", and several of the

 

apporximately 150 shrubs nd small trees belonging to this genus are grown for

 

their dense heads of pink or white silky stamens that appear on short stalks

 

along the upper sides of the branches.

 

 

 

 

The leaves are pinenate with small fern-like leafets that make the plant

 

attractive even when it is not in flower. 

 

The most commonly seen is probably C. surinamensis,

 

 

 

 

Which grows in a funnel shape and produces large numbers of pink-and-white

 

or pure white flowers.  A smaller species, with larger leafets and bright red flowers,

 

is C. emarginata; several other speices also have red flowers.

 

Calliandra is propagaed by cuttings or seeds.

 

 

 

 

"파우더퍼프(Powder Puff)"는 칼리안드라(Calliandre)라고도 불리우는데, Calliandra는 "아름다운 수술"이라는 의미이다.

 

로스디아나, 칼리안드라, 복자귀나무, 분홍자귀, 붉은분첩(Red Powder Puff), 왕자귀, 인도자귀나무 등의 이름도 갖고 있다.

 

콩과에 속하는 남아메리카 원산의 상록관목으로 볼리비아, 브라질 남동부, 우루과이, 아르헨티나 북부 등지에 분포한다.

 

 

 

 

겨울철에는 영상 5도 이상의 온도를 유지하고 빛이 밝은 곳에서 길러야 꽃이 많이 달리고 꽃색도 좋아진다.

 

번식은 꺾꽂이로 가능하고 온도만 신경써주면 잘 자라는 편이다.
