Hanbat Arboretum Tropical Garden
This is an exceptionally beautiful palm from Malaysia.
Growing to a height of about 2 metres, it has no trunk but enormous,
undivided leaves that rise straight from an underground stem and are used as superior
thatching in its native land. At present it is not commonly seen in gardens, but is
attractive form and relantively compact shape make it eligible for wider use.
It prefers a shady location and needs protection from strong winds which will
damage the large leaves. Propagation is by seed, Which must be fresh.
