An Evergreen vine that likes to attach itself to trees by means of roots

 

that appear from the stems, Hoya has thick green oval leaves and is prized by many tropical plant

 

collectors because of its small, waxy, starshaped flowers, which are fragrant at night. 

 

Numerous hybrids have been made from H, carnosa, some with flowers that are creamy white with

 

a pink centre and others on which the flowers are dark pink or red.

 

On other specis, the flowers may be reddish-brown or maroon, or the leaves may be intriguingly

 

twisted and crinkled.  Hoya likes shady, humid and crinkled.  prefers a host plant on which to climb,

 

through it can also be trained up wires and grown as a potted plant.
